Hillside Development is a young and ambitious real estate developer specialized in the transformation/development of residential properties in the Randstad. The intended size is approximately 2-40 units per development project.
The team has decades of joint experience and a large network of banks, investors and experts. Clear communication and proficient execution enable us to successfully acquire, finance, develop, market, and manage the most complex development projects.

Jan van Arkel
After obtaining his two bachelor degrees: Law + Economics & Business Economics at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Jan completed his specialism in Real Estate Finance (MSc) at the University of Amsterdam. He then started working at OVG Real Estate/EDGE as a real estate developer. After 5 years of work experience on large-scale real estate projects in, among others, London, Amsterdam & Eindhoven, Jan has decided to pursue entrepreneurship and founded the company Hillside Development together with Thijs.
Thijs Nijman
After completing his bachelor’s degree in Economics & Business Economics at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Thijs started working at Buro Amsterdam, a renowned real estate developer specializing in the (re-)development of special inner-city real estate projects. After 8 years of work experience, Thijs decided to start his own business, where, in addition to Hillside Development, he is also active in setting up and structuring real estate investment funds.
Paul Vismans
Paul is an advisor to Hillside Development, assisting the team with the knowledge he has gained after his more than 30 years of real estate career. For most of his career, Paul has been chairman of the board of various real estate funds of ABP and is currently director of a public development company (ROM-D Drechtsteden) and supervisor at various social organisations, including former chairman of the Rotterdam care institution Aafje.
Ward Nijman
Ward manages our portfolio and the portfolios of third parties under management at our sister company Hillside Management BV. Ward is technically strong and has a background in software engineering.
Jan Clardeij
Jan obtained both his bachelor degree in Economics & Business Economics and Entrepreneurial Master at the Utrecht University. Before starting at Hillside Development, he worked at a local broker in Amsterdam to gain real estate experience.
Vahdet Ozsin
Vahdet completed his bachelor’s degree in Economics & Business Economics at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
